Exterior
There are many different types of exterior modifications that can be made to a Jeep Wrangler YJ to enhance its appearance and off-road capability. Some examples include:
Suspension lift: This raises the body of the Jeep higher off the ground, allowing for larger tires and improved clearance over obstacles.
Tires: Larger, off-road-specific tires provide better traction and stability in rough terrain, and also change the overall look of the vehicle.
Bumpers: Aftermarket bumpers, both front and rear, can provide additional protection for the Jeep and also add to off-road capability by allowing the mounting of winches, lights, and other gear.
Fenders: Some aftermarket fenders are wider than the factory fenders, which can provide more protection from debris while off-roading.
Armor: Extra skid plates and rocker guards will provide more protection to the undercarriage of the Jeep.
Wheels: Different aftermarket wheels with unique designs, material or finish can change the appearance of your vehicle.
Locking hubs: These can be added to the front wheels, which will allow you to disconnect the front drivetrain for improved gas mileage and less wear and tear on the drivetrain when on the highway.
